Job Description

Position Summary
The Clinical Informaticist leads the strategy, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems at Troy Regional. This role ensures that electronic health records (EHR) systems support high-quality, efficiency, and compliant clinical care through the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT products. This position collaborates closely with hospital leadership, medical staff, nursing, IT, and regulatory teams to bridge the gap between clinical practice and technology, ensuring alignment with operational goals, quality initiatives, and addressing rural healthcare challenges. Additionally, the Clinical Informaticist integrates knowledge of clinical workflows with an understanding of data and analytics to develop solutions that resolve existing healthcare problems.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or associate degree in nursing/LPN required. Healthcare Informatics preferred.


Experience
  1. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical analytics experience in acute care of ambulatory patient settings.
  2. Experience with CPSI (Evident/TruBridge) is preferred.
  3. Clinical background (e.g. RN, LPN) strongly required.
  4. Healthcare/Clinical IT experience required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. A demonstrated interest in Healthcare Information, either through coursework, experience in selecting or implementing a clinical information system.
  2. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain strong prioritizing skills.
  3. Ability to provide formal and information technology teaching and competency validation.
  4. Strong understanding of clinical workflow processes.
  5. Maintain a knowledge of HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality standards.
  6. Knowledge of current healthcare trends and developments, and associated business needs.

Build Relationships support current IT products
  1. Develop strong relationships with team members across the continuum of care.
  2. Serve as a liaison between IT teams and assigned business units that require IT-based solutions.
  3. Develop and initiate strategies and outcomes with Senior Leadership, Board, Medical Staff, and other team members.
  4. Coordinate the execution and use of IT products and equipment.
  5. Serve as a resource for clinical end-users to assist and facilitate workflow and process improvement initiatives; maintain a visual presence with end-users on inpatient clinical units.
  6. Maintain a working relationship with all relevant members of the healthcare team to ensure applications function as designed and that future implementations and upgrades are designed around clinical best practices and end-user optimization needs.
  7. Provide training on clinical applications to physicians, leadership, and team members.
Analyze current business processes
  1. Collaborate with clinicians and administrative leaders to develop meaningful analytics.
  2. Provide critical analysis and evaluation of IT tools, and recommend revisions to clinical systems, processes, and workflows to ensure the achievement of positive patient outcomes and the accomplishment of goals.
New product request process
  1. Collaborate with IT, Leadership, and team members to guide technology choices.
  2. Translate technical concepts into operational and clinical terms that meet the needs of Leadership and other team members.
Other related functions
  1. Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures.
  2. Participate in projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  3. Knowledge of current healthcare trends and developments and associated business needs in clinical informatics technologies.
  4. Knowledge of the deployment and usage of clinical information technologies and electronic medical recourse technologies.
