Duration: 12 months (Contract), Part-Time (~5 hours/week)
Compensation Range: $40/hr $44/hr

Job Description: Serve as the SEO subject matter expert responsible for diagnosing organic search performance, developing a strategy to recover declining traffic, and helping evolve the organization's search strategy for both traditional search engines and emerging AI/LLM-driven search experiences.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities: - Analyze significant declines in organic/search traffic and identify root causes across rankings, algorithms, competitors, content performance, search behavior, and AI-driven search
- Conduct SEO research across keywords, SERPs, competitors, search intent, backlinks, rankings, and organic traffic trends
- Audit website and SEO performance to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and execute an actionable SEO strategy and roadmap focused on recovering traffic and improving organic visibility
- Evaluate existing website content and recommend what should be optimized, refreshed, expanded, consolidated, or deprioritized
- Partner closely with writers and content teams to provide strategic direction around topics, keywords, search intent, content structure, and optimization
- Develop and apply a scalable SEO framework and establish clear metrics for measuring organic search success
- Advise on how LLMs, AI Overviews, answer engines, and changing search behaviors should influence SEO and content strategy
- Identify opportunities to improve visibility across both traditional search engines and AI-driven search experiences
- Use analytics and SEO tools to continuously evaluate performance and adjust strategy based on results
- Translate complex SEO data and research into clear recommendations for marketing, content, technical, and leadership stakeholders
- Support ongoing website launches and expansion from an SEO and organic search strategy perspective
Minimum Requirements: - 5 years of deep SEO / organic search strategy experience
- Proven experience diagnosing declines in organic traffic and developing strategies to recover rankings, traffic, and visibility
- Strong understanding of technical SEO fundamentals, keyword strategy, search intent, SERP analysis, competitor research, backlinks/domain authority, and content optimization
- Strong understanding of how LLMs, AI search, AI Overviews, and zero-click search are changing traditional organic search
- Hands-on experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar SEO and analytics platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret traffic, ranking, and search-performance data and identify the story behind the numbers
- Experience developing strategic SEO roadmaps and frameworks rather than solely executing individual SEO tasks
- Experience partnering with and guiding writers/content teams on SEO strategy and priorities
- Ability to serve as an SEO SME and confidently communicate recommendations, priorities, and best practices to cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications: - Hands-on experience developing AEO / GEO / Generative Engine Optimization strategies
- Experience optimizing content and websites for visibility within LLMs and AI-driven search experiences
- Experience adapting an existing SEO strategy in response to AI-driven changes in search behavior
- Experience with website relaunches, migrations, or major website expansions
- Experience evaluating or implementing emerging SEO / AI-search tools
- Experience supporting SEO strategy for complex B2B, SaaS, AdTech, MarTech, or other technology organizations
- WordPress experience
